During her search, she stumbles upon a magical portal that lures her into Everholm, a charming island where everyone seems to recognize her. What could this mean? Where could all of this lead? The journey begins here…
This cozy, yet unconventional, adventure and farming sim game is coming to us from the indie game studio, Chonky Loaf.
Everholm is expected to release sometime in 2024, though a specific date has not yet been confirmed. The most recent trailer was released during IGN Live on June 7, 2024.
Everholm is a mysterious yet cozy island adventure and farming sim game where you play as Lilly, a girl who sets out to find her lost sister only to be lured into a portal that takes her to Everholm. Now she must uncover the secrets of this arcane, dreamy island while cultivating a farm/ranch, meeting new friends and family, and exploring the mystery that is… Everholm.
Returning to the question of all questions… Why not? Why not try the demo for Everholm? Wait a minute... unfortunately, the demo for Everholm has come to a close, but that doesn't mean you're left with nothing. So let's take a look at what the future holds for the enchanting world of Everholm!
The pixel art style that Everholm dances with encapsulates the cuteness and mystic vibes all in one. The environment is cute, the character designs are cute, the little itsy bitsy UI is cute, and everything else in this game is spot on ADORABLE!! The little quaint & cute expressions that Lilly and others give off when speaking to each other may be the cherry on top.
This now leads us to the gameplay, and if you thought it was cozy from the looks, just wait till you hear about how the game plays, it'll have you wishing you were cozied up under a blanket with your favorite beverage adventuring with Lilly in no time.
The Everholm demo gave you 7 days in the season of spring to explore the world, meet plenty of Everfolk, try out farming, fishing, cave exploration, and much more. Although you're capped at 7 days of in-game time, this allotted time still gives the player so much time to play and explore as you like, at your own pace.
The basis of Everholm thrives on a tailor-made experience for the player to play at their own pace while also giving out quests to continue on the path of uncovering the mysteries that Everholm holds.
Now get to exploring Everholm! Visit the Everfolk scattered around the center of town, such as Pedro, the bar and café owner, or pop into the plant shop owned by the lovely Mary to get some new seeds. With so many charming Everfolk to interact with during your 7 days on this cozy little island, you'll never run out of people to see and things to do.
On the list of tasks and quests, upon waking up and exiting your house, your mailbox will have had some letters delivered from Everfolk around the area asking for Lilly's help and partially acting as a tutorial. These little quests are just one small portion of the Everholm experience.
Of course, Everholm isn't complete without a day of fishing. Once you've caught all the adorable fishies you want, you can either head down to the docks and sell them to the good ol' fisherman, Zac, or enjoy them yourself as a nice little treat.
The cave system that Everholm boasts is an incredible addition to the mystic vibe surrounding the island. This is the main spot where you'll be mining for ore and other goodies needed for crafting as well. As you enter the caves, the environment is a dangerous one with many fearless foes ready to attack you, so ready you're sword and be ready.
Well folks and soon-to-be Everfolk, there is an abundance of content to chit-chat about with Everholm, although we shall leave it here. The demo for Everholm is now currently unplayable, and the game is set to release sometime in 2024.
Although the demo for Everholm has ended, I had the chance to play through it multiple times, and I can assure you that it was a beautifully entertaining and chill experience. If you resonate with cozy yet mysterious pixel vibes and enjoy a farm (though not entirely a farm) simulation, Everholm will be a must-play for you. (And if you're like me and love all things spooky and cozy, make sure to visit Maple when you get the chance!)

I promise you, with the fall season ahead of us, Everholm is set to be a top choice for all your spooky and cozy gaming vibes.
